Thresholds of Promise: Crossing the Threshold

In as much as thresholds invite our discernment, they also require action. At some

point you have to choose, do I return from where I came, or do I cross the threshold in

front of me? Poet John O’Donohue says, “To acknowledge and cross a new threshold

is always a challenge. It demands courage and also a sense of trust in whatever is

emerging.” This was certainly true for the Rich Young Man who, when faced with a

choice as to whether to follow Jesus, turned back. He could not do it. Could you? Can

we?
